Biography

Dezi Marlow M.Ed., LPCC, B.B.A

Founder and CEO

D.A.N.C.E. Movement Specialist

I am a graduate of Kent State University's Masters of Clinical Mental Health Program.  I also received my Undergraduate degree in Business from Kent State University.  I have always had a passion for dance and inspiring others through dance performance.  After I graduated with my Business Degree, I moved to Houston, Texas to receive training in contemporary, ballet, jazz, swing and hip-hop dance.  After getting years of experience in dance, I had a vision which brought me back to Cleveland.  Shortly after moving back  I joined the Cleveland Cavaliers Scream team where I was given the opportunity to dance in front of 22,000 fans every home game.  That experience combined with my passion to plant seeds of hope motivated me to open a social, emotional, physical Wellness Center and D.A.N.C.E. Studio.    My vision seven years ago was to create a movement/wellness curriculum  that was relatable, inspiring and therapeutic for clients.  Since then I have  been able to provide services to a diverse population of all ages across the Greater Cleveland Area in schools,  summer camps, recreational facilitates, day treatment centers, community centers, libraries and I now have the opportunity to bring D.A.N.C.E. Therapy under one roof.  The idea is to create an environment that promotes a sense of self-identity and purpose.  In addition, I pride myself on providing a productive outlet that is meaningful and reflective.

D.A.N.C.E. Movement Services are geared toward individuals that are looking to learn hip-hop technique and/or choreographed routines.  There are no discussion topics involved in these sessions.  If you are a person that needs a healthy outlet, this is for you.  There is no prior dance experience needed for these services.  Services are provided upon request and I offer convenient and flexible hours to accommodate your schedule.

D.A.N.C.E. Therapy Services

are individual and group based.

Both individual and group services are theme-based with different discussion topics each session.  Groups last anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours per group session.  Each group is different depending on the need of the client e.g. self-esteem, confidence, anger management etc.  Each group cycle ends with a showcase/performance that demonstrates the skills and tools learned throughout the D.A.N.C.E. Movement experience.   There is no prior dance experience needed for these services.   Services are:

4 week sessions individual/group

8 week sessions individual/group

2 month-6 month individual/group

6 month- continual  individual/group

Services are solely based on the need of the client.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork

I pride myself on empowering others by promoting the importance of teamwork and believing in yourself.  In this photo we are getting ready to perform and showcase everything that was learned through my program in front of faculty and parents.  I was honored not only to make an everlasting impact on the youth, but an impact that will change how the community views creative intervention.

To be able to teach dance/choreography is one thing but to have the participants engaged in what it means to learn life lessons is important.  I provide them with the tools to make healthier choices and the understanding that each of them can be successful. Everyone learns and expresses themselves in different ways. However, the goal is that people understand that it is okay to embrace individuality.

D.A.N.C.E. Movement for the participants serves  as a positive outlet, stress reliever and often times an opportunity for the group  to share how they are feeling while receiving support/feedback from the group.  Identities are discovered, healthy relationships are built and people feel accepted for who they are.  Once the individual/group understands that, they learn to embrace it.
